TYSONS CORNER, VA, November 10, 2019 — Bob Fortna, president of Fortinet’s (Nasdaq: FTNT) federal business, urged federal agencies to consider security while updating information technology systems to be compatible with cloud technology instead of adding features to secure IT infrastructure after modernization efforts have already taken place, ExecutiveBiz reported Dec. 4.

He wrote in a GCN insight piece published Dec. 3 that government IT teams should use a security-driven networking strategy to accelerate the cloud deployment process across a network.

Fortna also suggested using a new class of firewalls with customized security processing units to protect data even as information moves between multiple cloud platforms.

“Leveraging a security-driven network approach through the use of advanced next-generation firewalls, IT teams can establish a single, cohesive security strategy across their entire distributed network,” he added.
