AWS Develops New GovCloud Region for Eastern US; Raytheon’s John DeSimone Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, December 7, 2018 — Amazon Web Services has established a second region in the U.S. for its cloud computing platform offered to public sector customers in an effort to build on its existing GovCloud (US-West) region, ExecutiveBiz reported Nov. 13.

The company said Nov. 12 the new GovCloud (US-East) region works to facilitate a compliance framework for government agencies and highly regulated industries as well as capability for disaster recovery and operational continuity through the multi-region cloud architecture.

John DeSimone, vice president of cybersecurity at Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) intelligence, information and services business, said the eastern U.S. GovCloud region helps the company deliver operational value to its mission partners.
