TYSONS CORNER, VA, Feb. 9, 2018 — Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM) has set the launch of the fifth batch of Iridium NEXT satellites aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on March 18 to bring the constellation to 50 units in orbit, ExecutiveBiz reported.

The company said the rocket will use the same first stage as the third Iridium NEXT launch held in October as the team aims to complete the manifest by mid-2018 with three more launches and deploy a new mobile satellite network.

“In addition to four launches, we will continue the testing and validation processes for our new specialty broadband service, Iridium Certus, and look forward to its commercial launch later this year,” added Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium and a 2018 Wash100 recipient.
