BAE Unit Gets $228M Contract Modification for Army Howitzer, Ammunition Carrier Production

BAE Systems‘ land and armaments unit has received a potential $227.8 million contract modification to produce up to 228 sets of M109A7 self-propelled howitzer and M992A3 ammunition carrier vehicles.

The Army Contracting Command obligated the full amount of the modification from its fiscal 2017 Army “other” procurement funds at the time of award, the Defense Department said Thursday.

M109A7 belongs to BAE’s M109 family of vehicles and offers primary indirect fire support for the Armored Brigade Combat Team and utilizes the current armament and cab structure of the Paladin M109A6.

Work will occur in York, Pennsylvania, through Nov. 30, 2022.
