The State Department has approved Qatar’s request to acquire a range of support services for its F-15QA multirole fighter aircraft program under a potential $1.1 billion foreign military sales deal with the U.S. government.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday the request covers design and construction services for parking and loading ramps, hot cargo pads, taxiways, hangars, back shops, alert facilities, weapons storage areas, shelters and other F-15QA related support structures.
A prime contractor will be selected via a competition to provide construction, cybersecurity and force protection infrastructure to support the Qatari F-15QA fleet, DSCA noted.
The selected contractor will also build squadron operations, maintenance, training, force protection, information technology support and cyber facilities as well as offer computer resources along with other logistics and program support services.
DSCA noted the proposed transaction will help boost Qatar’s capacity to operate and sustain F-15QAs, as well as support U.S. foreign policy and national security missions.
