The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) increased significantly on the day reaching a new YTD high of 104.137 up 1.786 percent. Orbital ATK and Northrop Grumman top the GCI with the news of Northrop Grumman’s intent to acquire the global aerospace and defense company.
The three major indices all closed in the positive. The S&P500 remained above the 2500Â mark and closed at another new high of 2,503.87 up 0.15 percent, while the DJIA set new records gaining 0.28 percent to 22,331.35, and the NASDAQ Composite, moved upward by 0.10 percent to close at 6,454.64.
Crude oil advanced for the seventh consecutive day reaching a 45 day high. WTI on the NY Mercantile Exchange just shy of the $50 mark, closed at $49.91 per barrel up 0.04 percent as it spent the better part of the trading day in the negative.
