September 14th Market Close: GovConIndex Closes Down While Major Indices Close Mixed


The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) closed down 0.456 percent to 101.596. Advancing shares slightly lagged declining 12 to 17.

The three major indices closed mixed on the day. The S&P500 closed down 0.11 percent to 2,495.62, while the DJIA set a new high gaining 0.20 percent to 22,203.48, and the NASDAQ Composite moved downward by 0.48 percent to close at 6,429.08.

Crude oil advanced for the fifth consecutive day reaching a 30 day high. WTI on the NY Mercantile Exchange closed up 0.83 percent to $49.71 per barrel.
