General Atomics Performs FAA-Approved Flight of Predator B Variant in National Airspace


TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 22, 2017 — A General Atomics business unit has performed a flight of the MQ-9B SkyGuardian remotely piloted aircraft across non-restricted airspace following approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

The company said Friday it flew the Predator B variant from Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems‘ Gray Butte flight operations facility in California over a distance of 275 miles as part of efforts to achieve international type-certification for the RPA.
