Sean Brophy, regional vice president of public sector sales at Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), has said government agencies seeking to develop an interactive, self-service tool should encourage citizens to serve as change agents by allowing them to ask questions through data access and adoption of new technology platforms.
Brophy wrote that agencies agencies should make data accessible, engaging and intuitive to facilitate citizen engagement.
He cited some of the topics that can attract an individuals interest and incite people to provide feedback and these include health care, transportation, child care, family and education.
Agencies should advance a culture that promotes collaboration between information technology teams and enterprises as well as forge partnerships with companies that seek to drive innovation through research and development efforts in the area of analytics, Brophy noted.
He also urged government agencies to leverage their employees motivation to accelerate the delivery of services to citizens.
