Vigor Marine Wins Navy Submarine Tender Overhaul, Dry Docking Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Vigor Marine a potential $28.3 million contract to perform a 120-day overhaul and dry docking of submarine tender USS Frank Cable.

The service branch’s military sealift command is the contracting activity and received two offers for the firm-fixed-price contract through a competitive procurement, the Defense Department said Friday.

Vigor Marine will inspect tanks, generator, pressure turbines and propulsion shafting system; repair engine room, main reduction gear, air conditioning plant and cranes; preserve sewage tank and underwater hull; and clean heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

Work will occur in Portland, Oregon, through Aug. 4, 2017.

DoD noted the obligated amount of $24.4 million at the time of award is from the Navy’s fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance funds.
