TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 22, 2016 — Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has helped the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Atmospheric and Environmental Research to build a laser-based system that works to monitor carbon dioxide leaks from storage sites, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.
NIST said Wednesday the system collects data on the emissions, which will be analyzed using a mathematical model that utilizes the changing shape of the gas leakage plume.
The team developed the laser-based measurement system as part of a cooperative agreement with the National Energy Technology Laboratory of the Energy Department.
