DARPA Names 8 Organizations for R&D on Ground X-Vehicle Technology

GXV-TTYSONS CORNER, VA, April 28, 2016 — The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has picked Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), Honeywell (NYSE: HON), SRI International, QinetiQ, Pratt & Miller, Carnegie Mellon University and Southwest Research Institute for its Ground X-Vehicle Technology program, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

DARPA said Tuesday the selected companies will conduct research and development work on armored ground vehicle platforms that can both integrate added armor and sustain mobility and speed.

“We’re exploring a variety of potentially groundbreaking technologies, all of which are designed to improve vehicle mobility, vehicle survivability and crew safety and performance without piling on armor, ” said Maj. Christopher Orlowski, program manager at DARPA.
