Boeing-Lockheed JV to Help Fund RD-180 Engine Backups


rocket launchTYSONS CORNER, VA, March 10, 2016 — A Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) joint venture will help fund the development of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s AR-1 and Blue Origin’s BE-4 rocket engines, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

National Defense magazine reported Tuesday that United Launch Alliance will invest in the ongoing work to develop AR-1 and BE-4,  which are alternatives to the Russian RD-180 engine.
