Carnegie Mellon Awarded $732M to Help DoD Manage Software R&D Center


softwareThe U.S. Air Force has awarded Carnegie Mellon University a $732 million contract to run the federally funded Software Engineering Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, through June 30, 2020.

The military service will obligate $500, 000 in fiscal 2015 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award, the Defense Department said Monday.

The Software Engineering Institute collaborates with government and private organizations to develop methods to improve the performance of critical software systems and secure computer networks.

SEI researchers also explore cyber-physical systems, high-performance computing technology, parallel algorithms, networking tools, autonomous operations and high-performance data structures.
