Jill Hruby has been appointed to succeed Paul Hommert as director of Sandia National Laboratories and as president of Sandia Corp. in a move that will take effect July 17, the Albuquerque Journal reported Monday.
Sandia, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary, runs the federally-funded research and development lab for the National Nuclear Security Administration.
âJill has the right combination of technical expertise and strategic vision to lead Sandia into the future, â said Rick Ambrose, executive vice president of Lockheed’s space systems segment and chairman of Sandia’s board of directors.
Hruby is a 32-year Sandia National Laboratory veteran and has managed energy, nonproliferation, and high-consequence security programs as well as international, homeland and nuclear security initiatives at the facility.
She told the Albuquerque Journal that she aims to help the lab address time and budget management issues related to weapon modernization efforts.
Hruby also said she wants the lab to increase its collaborations with industry and academic organizations to develop cybersecurity talent.
