Adm. James Stavridis, formerly commander of NATO Forces, has joined Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory as a senior fellow.
APL’sÂ senior fellows programÂ works toÂ combine technology and policy in an effort to meet the requirements of U.S. military leaders and government officials, the laboratoryÂ said Tuesday.
âWe are honored to welcome Jim to our Senior Fellows program and the Johns Hopkins community, â said Ralph Semmel, APL director.
Semmel added APL appointedÂ StavridisÂ to help in the lab’sÂ national security work as it seeks to further build itsÂ âability to develop solutions to critical global challenges.â
Stavridis served as the supreme allied commander of the NATO Alliance in global operations between 2009 and 2013.
He has alsoÂ held a leadership role overÂ the U.S. Southern Commandâs military operations in Latin America.
