Air Force Starts Bidding Process for GPS III Satellite Launch Services


SatelliteThe U.S. Air Force has issued a preliminary request for proposals for companies that aim to help the military service launch Global Positioning System III satellites.

The contract will cover GPS III launch vehicle production, mission integration and operational services, the Air Force said Wednesday.

Lt. Gen. Sam Greaves, Air Force program executive officer for space, said the solicitation is part of the branch’s efforts to reintroduce Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle competitive procurement.air-force-tile-ad

The contract is for the first of nine space launch missions under the Air Force’s EELV Phase 1A strategy and is managed by the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles AF Base.
