iRobot Corp. (NASDAQ: IRBT) has won a three-year,  $13 million contract to upgrade the U.S. Navy‘s man transportable robotic systems.

The company will also build MTRS spare parts for the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Indian head explosive ordnance disposal technology division under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract,  iRobot said Monday.

iRobot is scheduled to complete all tasks under the contract by the second quarter of 2015.

“iRobot is pleased to be working with the military to ensure that its MTRS fleet is equipped with the latest in robotic technologies, ” said Frank Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of iRobot’s defense and security business unit.

The Navy already placed an initial order of $277, 000 for the spares and upgrade works.
