The change covers an additional year of maintenance and operations work on the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node payload aboard the E-11A and EQ-4BÂ aircraft, the Defense Department said Thursday.
BACN is a technological gateway that extends the range of communications and matches radio frequencies for the aircraft fleet.
According to the Pentagon, the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to contract FA8726-09-C-0010 includes special tasks and other personnel, facilities and materials provisions to maintain the equipment.
The contracting activity is the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/HNAK, with funds to be sourced from the Air Forceâs fiscal 2014 budget.
