Northrop to Continue Air Force Comms Relay Ops, Support Under $89M Modified Contract


northrop Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) Space & Mission Systems has won a modification contract worth $89, 663, 365 to continue support for the U.S. Air Force’s airborne communications relay program.

The change covers an additional year of maintenance and operations work on the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node payload aboard the E-11A and EQ-4B aircraft, the Defense Department said Thursday.

BACN is a technological gateway that extends the range of communications and matches radio frequencies for the aircraft fleet.

According to the Pentagon, the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to contract FA8726-09-C-0010 includes special tasks and other personnel, facilities and materials provisions to maintain the equipment.

The contracting activity is the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/HNAK, with funds to be sourced from the Air Force’s fiscal 2014 budget.
