Harris CapRock Orders Comtech Subsidiary’s Comm Infrastructure Tools; Fred Kornberg Comments

SatelliteHarris CapRock Communications has awarded a $5.4 million order for satellite communications infrastructure tools to a Comtech Telecommunications (NASDAQ: CMTL) subsidiary.

Comtech EF Data Corp. booked that initial order in its fiscal quarter ending Jan. 31 as part of a purchasing agreement for VSAT services and radio frequency products with Harris CapRock, Comtech said Tuesday.

Fred Kornberg, president and CEO of Comtech Telecommunications, said the company intends to grow its partnership with Harris CapRock in order to fulfill client demand for bandwidth.

The VSAT equipment is built based on the Vipersat Management System and works to reassign satellite capacity to a remote traffic profile on demand.

Comtech and Harris CapRock intends for users to achieve data rates beyond 160 megabytes per second per outbound and 15 Mbps per return by using the VersaFEC Forward Error Correction on a single channel per carrier.

The companies collaborated to design Comtech EF Data’s Ku- and C-band LPOD Block Up Converters.
