Software AG Forms Intelligent Business Operations Unit; John Bates Comments

SoftwareAGlogoSoftware AG has formed a new business operations unit that will work to help customers convert big data insights into assets.

The business unit will focus on developing technology products for clients to monitor business processes, identify opportunities and risks and respond to business trends, Software AG said Thursday.

The Intelligent Business Operations platform is built to consolidate products such as the Terracotta messaging and big memory for data storage and analysis, Apama for analytics, process performance management for business monitoring and Presto for business pattern discovery.

John Bates, Software AG chief technology officer for intelligent business operations and big data, said those technologies are meant to help providers and customers reduce operations barriers.

Software AG also updated its Apama platform, Terracotta Universal Messaging product and Terracotta BigMemory as part of the initiative.

The Apama version 5.1 is developed for applications to read and write to the big data management system Terracotta BigMemory and the Apama and Big Memory use the Universal Messaging as the messaging layer.

BigMemory version 4.1 features in-memory computing support for .NET/C# and C++ users and SQL for data queries.
