Battelle Subsidiary Buys Undersea Tech Maker SeeByte; Patricia Gruber Comments

Battelle w:borderBattelle‘s Bluefin Robotics subsidiary has purchased undersea vehicle sensing and navigation software developer SeeByte Ltd. for an undisclosed amount, the Columbus Business Journal reported Monday.

Carrie Ghose writes Bluefin and SeeByte have worked together to build technology for Bluefin’s remotely-operated vehicles to track gas and oil pipelines under the sea.

Patricia Gruber, Battelle vice president of maritime systems, said the Bluefin platform is designed to help users transmit survey data from underwater sensors, according to the report.

Battelle, Bluefin and Washington-based engineering firm Columbia Group are partners on the Proteus submarine project, Gruber reports.
