Invertix, Near Infinity Complete Merger; Art Hurtado Comments

AltamiraTechnology firms Invertix and Near Infinity have merged to become Altamira Technologies Corporation, led by President and CEO Art Hurtado.

Hurtado said Tuesday that the rebranded company will “seek to deepen and align our core capabilities around emerging requirements in big data, cyber, analytics and mobility” for customers in spaces including national security and intelligence.

Altamira also considers visualization, sensors and communications as central business offerings.

Pre-merger investments in Invertix and Near Infinity from Razor’s Edge Ventures and Columbia Capital help bring the deal together, Altamira said, adding that the executive teams played an important role in its execution.

The company said it is looking to grow its business through contracts with new customers as “the government information technology sector has deepened its embrace of open source technologies.”

Razor’s Edge Managing Director Mark Spoto said Altamira will promote open source solutions, while Craig Parisot, Altamira’s chief strategy officer, added the company will work to help secure customer operations by “driving” standards in architecture, data and security.

(UPDATE at 12:03 p.m): In a separate release, Altamira also announced its executive team comprising of five leaders from both Invertix and Near Infinity, including Hurtado.

Wayne Cliburn, formerly vice president of TASC‘s global systems unit, has joined Altamira as chief operating officer and will lead profit and loss for its business portfolio in the national security sector.

At TASC, Cliburn led its national security business in space ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance).

Bryan Judd, Invertix’s chief financial officer since 2006, will hold the same position at Altamira and also serve as secretary and treasurer of the board.

The 13-year company veteran will oversee the company’s finance functions as well as legal, contracts, banking and employee benefit programs.

Chris D’Agostino, founder and former CEO of Near Infinity, has been appointed chief technology officer at Altamira and will be responsible for the company’s technology vision.

Altamira says D’Agostino, a 20-year intelligence veteran, has led efforts to adopt open source software in the government.

Craig Parisot, chief operating officer at Invertix for seven years, will assume the role of chief strategy officer at Altamira and be responsible for corporate strategy, development, marketing and communications.

Parisot has served as an Air Force officer and supported the intelligence community during his 18-year career in the public and private sectors.
