A General Dynamics-led (NYSE: GD) team is building a North American combat vehicle that incorporates a protection system intended to defend soldiers from threats.
The company’s land systems business has reviewed the active protection system’s design and plans to demonstrate an APS-integrated Light Armored Vehicle III later in 2013, the company said Wednesday.
APS technology is designed to intercept and destroy threats posted by portable weapons against crew members.
Sonya Sepahban, the land systems business’ senior vice president for engineering, development and technology, said General Dynamics aims to implement the technology on different types of platforms.
General Dynamics funds, designs, integrates, tests and supplies materials for the project.
