Northrop Wins $159M For Shoulder-Fired Missile Hardware

NorthropLogoNorthrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has won a $159, 955, 980 contract modification to provide the U.S. Air Force hardware and support for shoulder-fired missiles from large aircraft.

Funds from fiscal years 2011 through 2013, foreign military sales and overseas contingency operations will cover this firm-fixed-price award, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

According to the Air Force, the large aircraft infrared countermeasures are designed to help pilots defend against heat-seeking missiles and provide warning of incoming missiles.

Work will occur in Rolling Meadows, Ill through April 30, 2015 and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is the contracting activity.

The company also holds an estimated $333.6 million modification awarded in February 2012 to perform similar work for the Air Force’s countermeasures inventory.
