Northrop Wins $148M for North Pole EHF SATCOM System

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has won a $148, 313, 460 U.S. Air Force contract to provide satellite communications services in the North Polar region.

According to the Defense Department, the Enhanced Polar System control and planning segment aims to provide deployed forces in the region extremely high frequency protected satellite communications.

The company says the EPS constellation will succeed the current Interim Polar System and act as a polar adjunct to another EHF SATCOM system.

Two satellite-based EHF communications payloads will provide users advanced EHF communications terminals, a gateway for other connecting with communication systems and the Global Information Grid and extend mission control segment  MCS hardware and software to accommodate the EPS satellites.
