Lockheed Wins $489M for AF C-5 Material, Fabrication

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a $489, 413, 280 million contract modification to provide material and fabrication efforts for the U.S. Air Force‘s C-5 fleet.

According to a Defense Department release, the company’s aeronautics operating unit will perform work for the Reliability Enhancement and Re-engining Program Lot 6 phase.

The Air Force uses the C-5 to transport cargo and personnel, carrying up to standard pallets and 81 troops for one flight.

The Pentagon expects work to finish by July 17, 2015 and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is the contracting activity.

Lockheed won close to $900 million in C-5 REPR program awards in October for lot six long-lead items, lot five material and fabrication work, lot three engines and lot five spares.
