Deloitte CEO Joe Echevarria was among the 14 chief executives who met with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden Wednesday to discuss approaches for averting the fiscal cliff of tax increases and spending cuts, Reuters reports.
Echevarria told reporters the meeting was constructive and Obama sought input from everyone in attendance, according to the story by Jeff Mason and Pedro da Costa.
In a Thursday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe, ” Echevarria said Obama understood the short-term nature of the fiscal cliff and that businesses saw tax reform as the larger issue.
Obama also acknowledged a fiscal deal would involve spending cuts and entitlement reforms, Echevarria said.
