Lockheed Names COO Chris Kubasik Board Vice Chair; Douglas McCorkindale Comments

Lockheed Martin Corp.‘s (NYSE: LMT) board of directors has appointed Chief Operating Officer Chris Kubasik to the board and elected him vice chairman, effective Thursday.

He will use this position to prepare to succeed Bob Stevens as CEO in January 2013, Lead Director Douglas McCorkindale said in a company release.

Stevens will remain chairman through 2014, subject to approval from the board and shareholders.

Kubasik has has served as president and COO since January 2010 and with Stevens in the executive office of the chairman since October 2011.

He previously served as executive vice president of the electronic systems business area and earlier as chief financial officer.

Marillyn Hewson, currently executive vice president for electronic systems, will succeed Kubasik as president and COO.
