General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) land systems business unit has won a $367 million award with the U.S. Army’s TACOM Lifecycle Management Command to produce and deliver an additional 177 Stryker combat vehicles equipped with double-V hulls.

The vehicles are expected to be completed and delivered by July 2013. Work for the contract will be done in Aniston, Ala., Lima, Ohio and London, Ontario.

The double V-hull is said to provide Stryker-borne soldiers increased protection from the effects of improvised explosive devices and roadside mines.

General Dynamics will deliver double V-hull Stryker vehicles in seven variants — infantry carrier, engineers squad vehicle, medical evacuation vehicle, commanders vehicle, fire support vehicle, anti-tank guided missile vehicle and mortar carrier vehicle.
