iRobot Corp. (NASDAQ: IRBT) has won a $21 million Naval Sea Systems Command order for more than 100 man transportable robotic system MK 1 MOD 1 robots and spares kits.
The bomb disposal robot order is the fourth on a $230 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
“Improvised explosive devices remain one of the biggest threats to our forces overseas, ” said Robert Moses, president of iRobot’s government and industrial robots division. “iRobot’s unmanned ground vehicles save lives every day by providing our troops with the ability to identify and dispose of IEDs from a safe standoff distance. We are pleased that the Navy is continuing its investment in this technology.”
