ManTech’s Carlos Echalar spoke about what makes a successful HR department:

“It’s about integration. What makes an HR department stand out is its ability to see how pieces interrelate. To understand the operational side and the strategic side and have the ability to fluctuate between the two. It means being astute and flexible enough to recognize and respond to your customer’s needs. When I say customer, I mean both internal and external. In our industry, it’s imperative we meet our external customers staffing plans. It’s also critical that we understand our internal requirements from organic or acquisition growth. The best HR department acts like a profit-and-loss organization, managing itself like a business.”
