AxleTech International, a General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) company, has started operations at a new state-of-the-art headquarters and distribution center in Troy, Mich., to meet the growing needs of its commercial and military customers around the world. Staffed by 40 professionals who fulfill aftermarket orders, the new facility allows AxleTech to process requirements more efficiently and at the highest levels of customer service.
By September 2010, the 135, 000-square-foot facility will be expanded to house AxleTech’s Truck-Trailer-Transit (TTT) brake operations, currently based in Detroit; U.S. Gear’s aftermarket operations, currently based in Chicago; and AxleTech’s global headquarters. Upgraded capabilities at the new Troy location will include a new engineering technical center and prototype operation.
“We are proud of the success achieved by AxleTech’s aftermarket business, which has grown to more than ten times the size it was when we initiated the business in 2002, ” said Mary Petrovich, general manager of AxleTech International. “Since then, we have added over 100 technical and professional employees to our team from the talented workforce available here in Michigan.
