On Monday, it was announced that the U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon a Foreign Military Sales award worth $42 million for the company to provide the Swiss Air Force 14 Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared pod systems and spares.
“These additional pod systems give the Swiss Air Force advanced sensor and laser-tracking capability, ” Raytheon vice president for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems Tim Carey said.
The delivery of the pod systems, which are for the Swiss F/A-18 Hornet, is expected in 2010. They will give the aircraft advanced electro-optical and infrared sensors with a tracking laser.
