The US Navy awarded Raytheon two contract extensions valued over $16 million. Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems division (IDS) won the two contracts and will continue to provide maintenance services as well as upgrade the Navy’s Aegis weapons system. Under the second contract Raytheon will provide the Navy with AN/SPY-1 radar transmitter ordnance alteration kits that have been used by the US Navy and Coast Guard for over 30 years, according to Raytheon’s press release.
“Raytheon has a long history with the Aegis radar program – providing highly capable naval radar components and world-class support for Aegis-equipped ships worldwide, ” said Robert Martin, vice president and deputy of Seapower Capability Systems at Raytheon IDS.
The contract will be carried out at Raytheon’s IDS Surveillance and Sensors Center in Sudbury, Mass. and Technical Services Company in Norfolk, Va.
