DARPA Taps Raytheon, Vencore Subsidiaries for IP Cyber Research Program

dhs-cyberThe Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) BBN Technologies subsidiary and Vencore‘s Applied Communication Sciences separate research contracts under the Edge-Directed Cyber Technologies for Reliable Mission program.

BBN’s contract is worth $12.2 million and ACS’ contract has a value of $11.8 million, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

Both agreements span across two 18-month phases and funds will come from fiscal year 2015 research, development, test and evaluation appropriations.

DARPA’s EdgeCT program objective is to install new technologies in computing devices within a Wide Area Network to make communications across Internet Protocol networks more resilient.

EdgeCT’s technical components include real-time network analytics on WAN characteristics and events, decision systems that incorporate analytics with information on mission plans and protocol stacks to modify how information is handled.
