Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and a Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) business have teamed up to compete for the Missile Defense Agency’s Next-Generation Interceptor program. “We have the right team, technology and expertise in place to meet our customer’s needs for enhanced capabilities, from the identification of a ballistic missile launched by an adversary, all the way to its elimination,” Blake Larson, corporate vice president and president of Northrop’s space systems business, said in a statement published Monday.

The Missile Defense Agency has released a solicitation for the Next-Generation Interceptor program, Defense News reported Friday. MDA requested $664.1M in fiscal 2021 funds for NGI, which replaces the Redesigned Kill Vehicle program as part of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense System designed to defend the U.S. against ballistic missile defense threats.
