At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, health care organizations were forced to modernize at a rapid pace in order to handle the massive influx of patients, adapt to constantly changing federal guidelines and address quickly-evolving medical needs.
Over the past two years, the health care industry has initiated a slew of major modernization efforts; healthcare systems have adopted telehealth programs, bolstered their information technology infrastructures and embraced advanced technology as they work to accelerate their digital transformation journeys.
These efforts have represented a continuation of the decades-long push to digitize healthcare records and bring the U.S. health care system into the digital age.
Now, health care organizations are looking to the cloud as the next frontier of modernization. Migrating to the cloud can help organizations better collect and analyze data while optimizing critical processes and accelerating automation. The cloud can also better support artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that increase data harmonization.
But, moving these complex electronic health records, or EHRs, can be challenging for some organizations that are not as tech savvy as others.
