The U.S. Navy has awarded Viasat (Nasdaq: VSAT) and Data Link Solutions positions on a potential five-year, $999M contract to produce, retrofit and sustain Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems terminals.
The Department of Defense said Tuesday Naval Information Warfare System Command received two offers for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, which covers the Tactical Targeting Network Technology, Concurrent Multi-Netting-4 and F-22 variants of MIDS TRS terminals.
The MIDS JTRS terminal is a line-of-sight, four-channel radio system designed to collect, transmit and secure broadband data and voice across ground, maritime and aerial platforms.
Viasat will perform work in Carlsbad, Calif., through May 2025. The company will get $48.3M in funds through the first delivery order.
DLS, a joint venture of BAE Systems and Raytheon Technologies’ (NYSE: RTX) Collins Aerospace subsidiary, will carry out work in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Wayne, N.J. The company will receive $64.1M in funds under the initial delivery order.
