Vencore has received a potential $113 million contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to perform systems engineering services in support of environmental satellites.
The company said Thursday it will work with NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service to sustain legacy systems and support transition to future ground systems for new satellites such as the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite-R and Joint Polar Satellite System.
Vencore President and CEO Mac Curtis said the company will cooperate with NESDIS as the agency works to manage space assets that aid environmental resource management and national security.
The contract contains a one-year base period and four one-year options.
NESDIS manages operational environmental satellites; operates NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information; delivers data and information services such as earth system monitoring; and carries out official environmental assessments and research.
