The Senate voted 62-31 Tuesday to confirm Troy Edgar, associate deputy undersecretary of management at the Department of Homeland Security, as the new chief financial officer of DHS.
Edgar’s confirmation came more than a year after President Donald Trump nominated him for the CFO role at DHS.
“Troy’s experience as a veteran of the United States Navy as well as over 30 years in business with Fortune 500 companies will serve him well as he leads the Department’s finances and acting as a steward of taxpayer dollars,” Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf said in a statement published Tuesday. “I look forward to continuing to work with him to ensure that the Department continues to run efficiently and effectively.”
Prior to DHS, Edgar served as president, CEO and founder of management consulting firm Global Conductor. He previously worked at Boeing (NYSE: BA) and PwC.
He is former mayor of Los Alamitos in California and has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Southern California Association of Government, Orange County Sanitation District and State of California Rivers and Mountains Conservancy.
