In software development the traditional approach, dubbed ‘Waterfall‘, is linear and breaks the development phases into increments of Analysis, Design, Coding and Testing. A common constraint of Waterfall is that since coding is only begun three-quarters of the way through, potential pitfalls or errors don’t surface until the project is near its completion deadline.
The Agile methodology of development works these phases in tandem and places its fence posts at smaller increments of time, with each stage culminating in a viewable and tested piece of the project. While visibility increases between the development team and the products stakeholders, budgets and the completion deadline often subsequently decrease.
On November 19th at 11 am on WJLA; and 6PM on News Channel 8 Host of The BridgeJim McCarthy is joined by R. Dennis Gibbs (Director, Center for Agile Innovation, GDIT), Dr. Patrick McConnell, (Director, Agile Center of Excellence, CSRA) and Victoria Figaro, (President, The EndGoal Group) to discuss more in-depth the Agile development process, the panels experience with its implementation, and the application of Agiles methodology outside the world of software development.
