In software development the traditional approach, dubbed ‘Waterfall‘, is linear and breaks the development phases into increments of Analysis, Design, Coding and Testing. A common constraint of Waterfall is that since coding is only begun three-quarters of the way through, potential pitfalls or errors don’t surface until the project is near its completion deadline.
The Agile methodology of development works these phases in tandem and places it™s fence posts at smaller increments of time, with each stage culminating in a viewable and tested piece of the project. While visibility increases between the development team and the product™s stakeholders, budgets and the completion deadline often subsequently decrease.
