Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) CEO Steve Mollenkopf and Akhil Johri, former chief financial officer and executive vice president of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), have been nominated to serve on the board of Boeing (NYSE: BA).
Mollenkopf and Johri are set for election at the Chicago-based aerospace and defense contractor’s annual shareholder meeting, Boeing said Monday.
Boeing Chairman Larry Kellner said Johri and Mollenkopf will bring to the board their experience in engineering, safety, financial and software areas.
"I look forward to benefiting from Steve's strong leadership skills and deep experience in developing, testing and deploying technologies at scale, and from Akhil's world-class financial expertise, particularly in relation to the manufacturing of aerospace systems,” said David Calhoun, president and CEO of Boeing.
Mollenkopf has been serving as CEO of Qualcomm since 2014 and also sits on the company's board. He previously served as president and chief information officer of the telecommunications equipment company and led the firm’s chipset business.
Johri held several financial positions at UTC’s Carrier and fire and security businesses and previously served as CFO and VP of finance at the company’s investor relations and financial planning and analysis groups. He is former CFO at purification and filtration platforms provider Pall and currently sits on Cardinal Health’s board as an independent directors.
Edward Liddy and Mike Zafirovski will not seek re-election as independent directors and retire from Boeing’s board at the shareholder meeting.
