The State Department has approved Switzerlands request to buy tactical radio systems, software support, cueing platforms and other services to support upgrades to F/A-18 fighter aircraft under a potential $115 million foreign military sales agreement.
Switzerland asked to procure Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems, ARC-210 GEN 5 RT-1900A(C) radios with anti-jam tactical capabilities, APG-73 software updates, joint helmet mounted cueing systems and ALQ-165 aerial self-protection jammer sustainment services, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Friday.
The companies that will serve as principal contractors in the proposed FMS transaction include:
Boeing (NYSE: BA)
Data Link Solutions
Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL)
The proposed sale also covers software development, system integration, logistics, repair parts and spare, maintenance support and technical services and aims to help the Swiss air forces extend the service life of its F/A-18 fighter jets in an effort to build up operational capabilities in tactical aviation.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the deal Friday.
