The State Department has approved Australia™s request to purchase follow-on technical services and related equipment to support updates to 24 MH-60R helicopters under a potential $360 million foreign military sales agreement.
Lockheed Martin™s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky business will serve as the principal contractor in the proposed FMS transaction that also covers spares, repair parts, training support, engineering change proposals and test equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday.
The proposed sale also includes technical assistance related to logistics and engineering, classified software and related program support services and seeks to help Australia build up its surface warfare, anti-submarine and anti-ship surveillance capabilities as well as carry out search-and-rescue missions.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the deal Wednesday.
