The State Department has cleared a potential $225 million foreign military sale of Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure systems and logistics support for the United Arab Emirates’ C-17 military transport planes.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will act as principal contractors for the sale, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Wednesday.
The deal covers eight Globemaster IIIAN/AAQ-24 (V)N LAIRCMs and associated equipment such as ultraviolet missile warning system sensors, guardian laser transmitter assemblies and system processor replacements.
UAE also ordered control indicator unit replacements, smart card assemblies, high-capacity cards, user data module, Repeaters, COMSEC key loaders, initial spares, consumables and technical data as well as repair, return support, engineering design, installation, flight test and certification services.
DSCA indicated that UAE’s military will use LAIRCMs to protect its C-17s against missile threats when troops conduct humanitarian and resupply operations.
