The State Department has approved Australias request to buy tactical radio systems to support upgrades to F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft as well as 120mm tank ammunition and related services under two foreign military agreements worth approximately $151.4 million combined.
Australia requested to procure Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems, AN/ALQ-214A(V)4 countermeasure equipment, aircrew trainer device upgrades, system integration, personnel training, logistics and technical services to support updates to Super Hornets under a potential $101.4 million FMS contract, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Tuesday.
Harris (NYSE: HRS) will act as the prime contractor in this transaction that seeks to support Australias coalition efforts and help the countrys air force facilitate communications with other operational forces and protect its Super Hornet planes from potential threats.
Australia also asked to purchase M1002 120mm Target Practice Multipurpose Tracer tank projectiles, M865 120mm Target Practice Cone Stabilized Discarding Sabot-Tracer tank ammo, logistics, program support and technical services through a separate contract worth $50 million.
The proposed sale aims to help the country meet its training and operational readiness requirements.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the deals Monday.
