The State Department has cleared Canada's request to procure sustainment services and associated equipment for C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft, built by Boeing (NYSE: BA), from the U.S. government through a potential $275M foreign military sales agreement.
The proposed FMS deal will include modifications to aircraft hardware and software, technical documentation, logistics, engineering and programmatic support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
Canada also asked to buy components, GPS receivers and ground handling and alternative mission equipment. The country requested the sale as part of efforts to maintain strategic airlift capability for defense missions, DSCA noted.
