The State Department has cleared a potential $1.04 billion foreign military sale of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles and accessories to the U.K.
Oshkosh Corp.‘s (NYSE: OSK)defense business will serve as prime contractor for the proposed sale and will provide minimum contractor assistance until the U.K. government can transition to internal support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Monday.
The U.K. asked to procure up to 2,747 JLTVs as well as baseline integration, basic issue item, B-kit armor, engine arctic, fording, run-flat, spare tire, silent watch, power expansion and cargo cover kits.
The transaction will also include maintainer and operator training; U.S. government technical assistance and logistics support services; and other aspects of logistics and program support.
DSCA noted the FMS deal will help the U.K. update its current light tactical vehicle fleet and will not affect basic military balance in the region.
The agency notified Congress of the possible sale on Monday.
