Siemens‘ federal arm has won an $828.8M task order from the U.S. Navy to build, operate and maintain energy conservation systems at Naval Base Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
The task order for Arlington, Va.-based Siemens Government Technologies falls under an energy savings performance contract originally awarded by the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Work will involve updating the naval base’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting, refrigeration, energy storage, renewable energy photovoltaic, water management and control systems.
SGT will use private funds during the 31-month construction phase of the project. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command’s Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center is the contracting activity and received eight proposals for the task order.
